The Fireflash

After now completed an interesting little project about contexts, I am now getting back to drawing again, and has been a long time since I have posted any work up to the blog.
So here is something I did yesterday in my spare time; a visual motivation for my next project where I aim to tackle 3 or 4 genres of comics, and I aim to start doing more images like these to really immerse myself in these different stories I aim to tell.
So anyway, first up is this image for an idea to do, a sci-fi comic in the backdrop of a 50's style sci-fi world, with flying saucers, rockets, and robots.

Charmander

Charmander, was so always the one I go for because his final form was so badass, I mean you get a full on fire breathing dragon as a pet that beats having a big vegetable and an over-sized turtle. Plus in the card game Charizard was the most sought after card and still is, why I don't know. But anyway Charmander was my chose of starter all the way.
Oh in addition the images I drew from their original illustrations from their base cards, so that's their original cards as I figured that would be fun to do my own version for the cards.

Squirtle

This one turned out great, and also for me it was either gonna be a squirtle or a charmander. I loved the squirtle squad as a kid just seeing a town getting abused by tiny turtles with sunglasses...I suppose they never thought to roll 'em on their backs and then their problems woulda been sorted...

Bulbasaur

So after getting my hands on some old school Pokemon cards I decided to envision the original starter Pokemon and of course these will be my entries for the challenge for the equine cranium blog which is to draw Nintendo characters and da daa Pokemon are Nintendo characters as well so win, win.
I tried originally to draw them like I would normally draw things but it didn't look right, so decided to keep 'em cartoony and did a sort of near art deco take on them. Though have to say I don't think Bulbasaur turned out as good as the others.

Dalek likes daisies...

This is my doodle of a Dalek, who is infatuated with a daisy, twas a most random scenario that i could think of and digitally coloured it, also I quite like the style that came out of this. It's not my normal way of drawing since this is pretty loose for me but I think I may try more of these types of images in the future.
