New comic complete
I have now at last finished my latest comic project, though I did not do three different based narratives that I had originally planned, given that the project deadline was much shorter than I had originally thought. So instead I have done my own visual re-interpretation of the classic children's nursery rhyme, 'Jack and Jill'.
I shall put up the pages soon as, for your viewing pleasure.

Birth of a hero...
This is the final image to showcase the three agreed genres that I will be tackling for most of the year.
This piece I am particularly pleased with in it's outcome, and also a good few of you may recognize the hero character is indeed Lt Thunder, whom I made in first year but never got round to making a story for him, but now I have, and I hope it to be an engaging story.

Mafia Couple
Unsurprisingly I decided to also do another gangster story, though applying the spot colour of blue with just the black and whites or another colour, or tone maybe depending what mood it would convey.

The Fireflash
After now completed an interesting little project about contexts, I am now getting back to drawing again, and has been a long time since I have posted any work up to the blog.
So here is something I did yesterday in my spare time; a visual motivation for my next project where I aim to tackle 3 or 4 genres of comics, and I aim to start doing more images like these to really immerse myself in these different stories I aim to tell.
So anyway, first up is this image for an idea to do, a sci-fi comic in the backdrop of a 50's style sci-fi world, with flying saucers, rockets, and robots.

Days of the Comet
I now finally have internet in my new house here so I can finally update things, so here are a few photo uploads of my contributions to the window, with the majority of them being kiwi birds on balloons and jet packs.
The ones I made were the kiwi's on the balloons and one that has a jetpack, a dragon, a bird in a red baron plane and my character that I made in first year of uni, Lt. Thunder flying with a jet pack.
This project was a fun contribution to the Uni and to the BAS7, and also we are getting paid for it, so this is my first paid commission in a way which is nice.

The Birds...
Been awhile since the last update on the blog and sadly I do not have any new images to put up on the blog or at least I do not have them with me at the moment. Anyways I have been busy of sorts with having now moved back to Plymouth, in my new house and buzzing to start the final year at Uni. And after having to sort out issues with the house, and the dreaded bank...I am now here in the studio typing this out as I have no internet in my house, yet.
But what I have been up to is that I have started some designs of birds, flying creatures and flying machines for the BAS7 event that is happening here at Plymouth, so when I remember to bring my sketchbook I will post those up to the blog.
Also, the comica competition...I have admittedly not been getting on with that, and I really should as time is running out fast, but I do have a story that will fit the page limit, and have also done some quick character sketches for the comic, but basically I need to get on with it, anyways ciao.

You made me swallow my gum!
This is the final upload to the evil ex series, as after this I will be busy with creating a short 4 page comic that I will enter for the comica competiton, and if possible another short comic too.
So here is Gideon Graves, in my view a negative similarity to Scott. As they both cheat on their girls and don't exactly treat them very well, though Scott does realize this at the end of the comics. He is also everything that Scott isn't, being famous, surrounded by the right crowd, powerful and smarter than Scott. And of course is a "perfect ass" as Wallace puts it.

Twin Link
I'm not sure if I like this drawing, felt like it was done too quickly, and I am sure I could've done something more interesting with the characters than a bland side by pose. Anyways here are the Katayanagi twins, Ramona's 5th and 6th evil ex. In the comics their presence was quite toned down due to the overblown drama between the main characters, and in the film they had no speaking role and their fight wasn't that great either.

I'm a little Bi-furious!!!
Roxie Richter, Ramona's fourth evil ex girlfriend. I decided to not make her look as butch compared to her usual look in the comics and...film. Roxie taught Ramona all about the subspace highways and some ninja skills, and in the comics is the one ex that is actually on alright terms with Ramona.

Tell that to the cleaning lady...
And now for the sleazy, cheating, non-abiding vegan that is Todd Ingram. I'm not sure as to whether Todd is stupid or clever in that, he is so clever he has a hard time to coherently express it. Over than that this guy has got the most badass powers of the lot in my reckoning, I don't think many can beat telekinesis.

Sup? How's life? He seems nice...
Lucas Lee, the second evil ex in Ramona's love life. The thing about his character is that he actually has very little to contribute at all to Ramona's love life, and as such isn't a significant character at least in the comics. Though in the film he was more entertaining with his tough guy lines ha!

You will pay for your insolence!
Hey guys and girls! It's been awhile since my last blog upload, and with uni approaching I feel like I have been sliding from the blog with all the preparations one does for uni. Anyway started this series couple of weeks ago and just recently finished it. This will probably be the last ink wash series sketches for awhile anyway, as I am planning on doing a short comic for The Observer Comica competition.
Anyways, the series is of course of Ramona's seven evil ex boyfriends, with the first being Matthew Patel. What I like about this character is that he likes to pose and always like to deliver lines in a epic manner.

The Big Sleep: Arthur Gywnn Geiger
The first dead body in the path of Philip Marlowe. Arthur Geiger was on the payroll of Eddie Mars and doped Carmen Sternwood, and took pornographic images of his victim to be used as further blackmail to the Sternwood family, though his advantageous days were soon numbered.

The Big Sleep: Lash Canino
Eddie Mars' hitman, Lash Canino who does all the work that Eddie doesn't want to dirty his own hands with. Though I found it odd that Chandler gave a big tough guy a purring voice, I dunno I never imagined a hitman to have a purring voice...

50's pin up girl
This is something I just did today and didn't take me long to do, and this image is for the blog challenge at the equine cranium blog, which was my turn for the challenge and I went with the idea of doing 50's style pin up. So here is the eye candy that I have produced.

The Big Sleep: Carmen Sternwood
Carmen Sternwood, the trouble maker more so of the two Sternwood daughter. The most promiscuous and also by far the most dangerous of the two daughters. She has a very annoying habit of looking coy and playing with her hair and sucking her thumb, with her playful nature leads her to being used via drugs that spins off the blackmail case.

The Big Sleep: Philip Marlowe
And now as promised here is the first image of a series of 8 images, that compile a series of character portraits from Raymond Chandler's classic hard boiled detective, crime novel 'The Big Sleep'.
First character up is of course the main protagonist, the wise-cracking, cynical, tough guy but ultimately decent guy, detective Philip Marlowe. His characteristics would provide the template for later urban crime fiction.
And I find that he himself is a tarnished knight in some way in that the work he does is dirty yet still maintains his own moral code, which was characteristic in Chandler's writing that I think makes his character a success in literature.

The Trio
Been meaning to put this up for awhile. This watercolour painting depicts the scene at the end of 'The Good, The Bad and The Ugly' with the final showdown at the cemetery, which in all is probably the best filmic example of an intense western showdown.

The Big Sleep
So the next series of images I'm planning on producing next week are five or six character portraits from Raymond Chandler's novel 'The Big Sleep', the first novel that introduces Chandler's iconic hard boiled detective Philip Marlowe, to whom most detective characters aspire to be as.
Being the current book that has been captivating me, and being surrounded with such charismatic characters that I feel like doing my own visual depictions of them.
